St Fagans How buildings have changed throughout the years?

This year whilst studying scientific and creative learning we went to St Fagans and the National Museum in Cardiff to produce a podcast to show how an out of classroom environment can develop an innovative scientific idea. We decided to film our podcast to show what knowledge we had of it. The podcast would reflect on one of our visits which we have decided to talk about St Fagans.
Myself and Charlotte met up on many occasions to discuss what we will be aiming to achieve. When visiting St Fagans we took a walk through the five rows of houses. Whilst there we seen that through the years the building had changed, the main building features that had changed were the roofs, technology and the items of furniture. At the first house when looking at the ceiling we found that it was made from lath and Plaster, when looking at the ceilings now in the modern days  When researching St Fagans we found that 'All these structures were essentially rural. Indeed, the first nineteen buildings to be re-erected at the Museum can be classed as rural buildings, the only 'borderline' case being the cockpit from the small market town of Denbigh, which in any case illustrated a recreational activity that was to be found as much in the countryside as in the villages and towns. Even the toll-house, from Penparcau on the southern outskirts of Aberystwyth, was typical of scores of similar structures nearly all of which were located in the countryside.'

Whilst talking to one of the sites workers about the ceiling materials this made us realise what we would be basing our work upon. In our interview we have decided to place our work on the materials of ceilings from then and now.
We have created a voice recording which included information about Ceilings, Walls, Flooring, Central heating, and roofs. Please find attached a copy of our voice recording on the USB.

My final Piece

For my Final Piece I have decided that I am going to create a canvas which is going to include a verse out of the Welsh National Anthem and the Celtic spoon, I believe that this will give us a sense of place as the mind might wonder what are these two objects doing on a canvas. I have chosen these two as the National Anthem means a lot to Welsh people and the Celtic spoon is a sign of history within Wales.

Why the Welsh Language and Culture

I have chosen this topic as it is very important to me. I have spoken Welsh since the age of 3. I often speak welsh to all family members, I believe that this is a good thing as I can ensure that I do not lose the language. (which is easy to do). Whilst living in Swansea I have continued to speak Welsh with many of the residents. I have chosen the Welsh Culture because I find our scenery lovely and can take your mind to many places. I believe that I am very lucky where I live as we have many mountains and the scenery is outstanding.

Creating the pages

For my front page I have decided to create a typical 'Valleys' image, which includes a paragraph about the welsh language. I have chosen this as Wales have nice scenery and are best known for the coal mines. I also liked researching the information about Saint Fagans, Big Pit and The Heritage Park which is my local historical centres. I then researched about the welsh language, this brought all kinds of information such as the Celtic spoon and their types of writing. There was also information about the popularity of who spoke what language.

Blogging for my work

Today I decided to make the graffiti headings for my main pages. It was fun to create these titles as it had been a while since having a go in the class room, I decided to make the heading Family and Teulu.

 Family

Teulu

Whilst making these headings I came across the text image, for this image I used the Welsh Dragon, through the Welsh Dragon I have written 'Cymreag yw iaeth ni' which says welsh is our language.

Brief for my ICT Project

For my visual and communication project I have chosen the Welsh Language and it's Culture, I have chosen this because the welsh language has been spoken throughout my family since I was at a small age. My brother, cousin, grandparents and I all communicate with one another through welsh. I believe that the Welsh Culture is very beautiful as we are well known for our coal mines and its beautiful scenery. As I researched more into the Welsh Culture I came across the Celtic's way of writing and the Celtic spoon, there was a lot of information about it and about how it was found. I also researched more into the Welsh Eisterddfod as I knew a little about it but not enough.

Visual Communication

Today we walked around the university thinking about our emotions. Myself and Kara thought of happiness and clamness, as we walked around the university we came across many different bright colours and different sceneries. We took many pictures, once we came back to the classroom we narrowed the pictures down to just 6. The photo's I chose represent me as an individual.

These are the 6 photo's that i have chose.

I have chosen this image because it is very bright and it standsout to everybody that walks past it.

I have chosen this image of the Beach as it is a place that you can run away to, to clear your head and emotions, I have many good memories at the sea side.

I believe that this image is effective as a group of friends are happy and feel comfortable with one another as you can see the members are smiling.

This image is very effective as it is bright and colourfull, this image represents an happy emotion.
